The highest honor by the press organization puts The Spoke in the 95th percentile of newspapers nationwide. The Spoke was honored for coverage, writing and editing, graphic presentation and business operations.

NATIONAL SCHOLASTIC PRESS ASSOCIATION 2008-09
Finalist for the organization’s highest honor for a 17+ page newspaper for the first time in the paper’s history. Only 16 other newspapers nationwide were finalists. The winners will be announced in November.
The winners will be announced at NSPA’s convention in Washington, D.C. in November. NSPA’s Story/Cartoon/Picture of the Year awards are widely regarded as the most prestigious individual honors for scholastic journalism in the country.
